STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORSThe Directors are responsible for the maintenance of adequate accounting records and the preparation and integrity of the annual nancial statements.The annual nancial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Listing Requirements of the JSE Limited, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the SAICA Financial Reporting Guides as issued by the Accounting Practices Committee and Financial Reporting Pronouncements as issued by the Financial Reporting Standards Council and the Companies Act No. 71 of 2008 and are based upon appropriate accounting policies consistently applied and supported by reasonable and prudent judgements and estimates. The annual nancial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, except for certain nancial instruments at fair value, and incorporate the principal accounting policies set out below. They are presented in South African Rands.The annual nancial statements have been prepared under the supervision of Mr CB de Villiers CA(SA), the Chief Financial O cer. The Directors are satis ed that the information contained in the nancial statements fairly represents the results of operations for the period and the nancial position of the Group and the Company at year-end.The Directors are also responsible for the Group’s and the Company’s systems of internal nancial control. These are developed to provide reasonable, but not absolute, assurance regarding the reliability of the nancial statements, the safeguarding of assets, and to prevent and detect misrepresentation and losses.The Directors are of the opinion that the Group and the Company will continue as a going concern in the future as it will have su cient funds available to settle its obligations as and when they become due.The nancial statements, set out on pages 47 to 99, were audited by the independent auditor, Grant Thornton Cape Inc., to whom unrestricted access was given to all nancial records and related information.The independent auditor’s unmodi ed report is presented on page 46.
